CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS TO YOU,
WITH PLEASURE AND WITH PRIDE,
THIS PRIMA BALLERINA,
WHOSE FAME IS WORLDWIDE!
SHE HAS RECENTLY RETURNED
FROM A SUCCESSFUL WORLD TOUR,
SHE DANCED BEFORE THE HEADS OF STATES,
ALL EUROPE WORSHIPPED HER!
"Someday, Mommy, someday soon,
You'll be so proud of me,
I know I'm only dreaming now,
But someday soon, you'll see."
"I love to dance, though I'm not good yet,
But I will practice every day,
Someday, Mommy, someday soon,
You'll see me dance ballet."
Why does she dance - this ballerina,
For bouquets, BRAVOs and HURRAHs?
Oh no, it's not for that at all,
She does not hunger for applause.
It's for the joy in her limbs,
To reach, to stretch, to pull,
It's for the oneness with the music,
It's when her heart's most full.
It's the discipline, the regimen,
The mind and body blending,
It's the soul, the heart, the spirit,
It's a form of praise unending.
These things she'll learn as time goes by,
The things that set an artist free,
No matter how or when she learns,
She will - it's meant to be.
Dedication, passion, doggedness,
Sacrifice, resolve, and heart,
Desire, ability, and skill,
How valuable each part.
But for now ... she's just a little girl,
With two left feet ... and a grin,
But someday, Mommy, someday soon,
She will pirouette and spin.
