PICNIC!  PICNIC!  PICNIC!

BOOM  BOOM  BOOM  go the fireworks!
BANG  BANG  BANG  go the drums!
PING  PING  PING  go the watermelon seeds!
And the fun has just begun!

Here's the potato salad,
And there's the pork 'n beans,
Billy Bob, please get the dog,
Away from all these things!

Hurry!  The Jell-O is melting,
When will the hot dogs be done?
Oh my gosh!  Guess what?
I think we forgot the buns.

Nope.  Relax.  They're in that sack,
Along with the paper plates,
And those no good plastic forks and spoons,
Which always seem to break.

Grab that jug of lemonade,
And put it over here,
That's fine.  Now, hide the keg
Of Uncle Louie's beer.

There's Grandma's home-made relish,
And her delicious pickled beets,
Lots of food to go around,
Golly!  More than we can eat.

Cold fried chicken - corn on the cob,
'Tater salad and cole slaw,
Between the food and relatives
This table's much too small.

Elbows in each other's ribs,
Feet dangling, tangling down below,
Splashes from knocked over glasses,
Fun mixed with havoc, don't you know.

Laughter, giggles, lots of talk,
Especially from Uncle Lou,
Who found his hidden keg of beer,
Adding to the hullabaloo.

A little hand beneath the table,
Holding morsels for the dog,
Mama's voice above the din,
WHAT DID I TELL YOU, BILLY BOB?

Ants and flies and bees buzz by,
Often times a dreaded wasp.
Then, as one, the whole group ducks,
But not a single soul is lost.

Home-made ice cream and apple pie,
The gang at last is full,
Now, clean up this stuff; it's almost dusk,
The fireworks will be beautiful.

The annual family picnic,
Held Fourth of July, each year,
Enjoy it fully while you can,
For who knows about next year?

Things change, and time goes fast,
These are the memory making days,
Use them; don't abuse them,
Make them count in every way!

BOOM  BOOM  BOOM  go the fireworks!
BANG  BANG  BANG  go the drums!
PING  PING  PING  go the watermelon seeds!
And the fun has just begun!
