When I first met my Angel Girl.
She was real as real could be,
She came here straight from heaven,
She said, 'just to be with me.'
This happened quite some time ago,
While I was still a child,
And no matter where I've been since then,
She's stayed with me all the while.
When I was little, we played games,
Then later she walked with me to school,
She taught me how to be a friend,
And how to use the Golden Rule.
She was there for all my tests,
Be they in school, or out,
And she helped me understand
What life was all about.
If I were sad or disappointed,
My Angel Girl was there,
She perked me up with just a hug,
And showed me that she cared.
When temptation entered my young life,
She introduced me then to God,
That was her greatest gift of all,
I was truly grateful and was awed.
She stood by me when I got married,
And was with me for each child,
She helped me with their growing pains,
Then helped me greet my first grandchild.
When I started graying,
And began to hesitate,
My Angel Girl slowed down with me,
And moved at my slower gait.
Then as I grew older still,
And became widowed and alone,
She soothed me with her love,
And talked to me of going home.
She sweetly smiled and kissed my cheek,
She said, "Your life's been good,"
"But now it will be better."
I was pleased and understood.
Then she gave me angel hugs,
As only Angel Girls can do,
And reassured me of her love,
And said, "God loves you, too."
My precious, loving Angel Girl,
My Guardian Angel through the years,
Who saw my life had been fulfilled,
And handled all my lifetime tears.
Then as her final act for me,
She flew on straight ahead,
And bowed and stated reverently,
"Dear Lord, I watched her like you said."
"And now I've brought her back to you,
According to your plan."
"Then my Angel Girl blew me a kiss,
And left me in God's hands.
